Filipino Survival Phrases Lesson 39 - Your ticket to a culturally-rich stay in the Philippines.
There is so much to do and see in the Philippines, and there are times when access to some must-see places require an admission ticket.
So today we're going to work on getting you through the gate as we all take a look at buying tickets. In Filipino, "ticket" is Tiket.
Tiket.
And, Tiket.
In Filipino, "One ticket please" is Isang tiket, please.
Isang tiket, please.
Let's break it down by syllable: Isang tiket, please.
Now, let's hear it once again: Isang tiket, please.
The first word Isang means "one" or "single."
Let's break down this word and hear it one more time: Isang.
And, Isang.
This is followed by Tiket, which in English is "ticket."
Tiket.
Tiket.
And, Tiket.
Then followed by the word "please."
So, to recap here, we have Isang ticket please, which means "One ticket, please."
Now, we'll work on getting tickets for the rest of your party. Let's just recap numbers here: isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat, lima.
And now, let's put them together: Limang tiket.
So, to get tickets for two people, you would need to say Dalawang tiket.
Dalawang tiket.
Let's break it down by syllable: Dalawang tiket.
Now, let's hear it once again: Dalawang tiket.
So, to get tickets for three people, you would need to say Tatlong tiket.
Tatlong tiket.
Let's break it down by syllable: Tatlong tiket.
Now, let's hear it once again: Tatlong tiket.
To get tickets for four people, Apat na tiket.
Apat na tiket.
We need include the particle Na. It has no equivalent in English.
Let's break it down by syllable: Apat na tiket.
And, let’s hear it once again: Apat na tiket.
To get tickets for five people, Limang tiket.
Limang tiket.
Let's break it down by syllable: Limang tiket.
And now, let's hear it once again: Limang tiket.
Counting in Filipino is very straighforward. Today, we'll cover on the phrase which answers how many tickets will you get. In Filipino, "How many tickets?" is Ilang tiket? as the word Ilan or Ilang means "how many."
Again, Ilang tiket?
Ilang tiket?
Ilang tiket? which means "How many tickets?"
