Filipino Survival Phrases Lesson 30 - "How do you say this in Filipino?" |
In today's lesson, we'll introduce you to a phrase that will provide you with the tools to learn from the people around. A dictionary is a great idea, but don't forget that you can use Filipino or Tagalog to learn in a more fun and interactive way. |
For today's lesson, we're going to need a word, as we're going to cover "How do you say (something) in Filipino?" For today's lesson, let's use "car" for that something. |
In Filipino, "How do you say 'car' in Filipino?" is Ano sa Tagalog ang "car"? |
Ano sa Tagalog ang "car"? |
Let's break it down by syllable: Ano sa Tagalog ang "car"? |
Now, let's hear it once again: Ano sa Tagalog ang "car"? |
The first word Ano means "what." |
Let's break down this word and hear it one more time: Ano. |

So, to recap here, we have Ano sa tagalong ang "car"? Literally, this means "What is 'car' in Tagalog/Filipino?" For the record, "car" in Filipino is Sasakyan. |
You can also use this expression without saying any English. To accomplish this, you can use the expression "How do you say this in Filipino?" In Filipino, "this" is Ito. |
Let's break it down by syllable: Ito. |
Now, let's hear it once again: Ito. |
