Becky: Hi everyone, and welcome back to FilipinoPod101.com. I'm Becky.

Becky: This is Must-Know Filipino Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 20. In this lesson you'll learn expressions related to body parts.
Becky: These are expressions related to body parts, which are commonly used to mean another thing, often humorous.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Becky: The expressions you'll be learning in this lesson are:
Jay: sakit sa bangs
Jay: hugas kamay
Jay: nose bleed
Jay: huli ka balbon
Becky: Jay, what's our first expression?
Jay: sakit sa bangs
Becky: literally meaning "painful to bangs." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "stresses me out."
Jay: [SLOW] sakit sa bangs [NORMAL] sakit sa bangs
Becky: Listeners, please repeat.
Jay: sakit sa bangs

Becky: Use this slang expression to express that a situation is causing you stress, because of exhaustion due to repetition, inability to understand, or disappointment to the other party. This expression is used by females almost all the time.
Becky : Now let's hear an example sentence.

Becky: Okay, what's the next expression?
Jay: hugas kamay
Becky: literally meaning "wash hands." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to be innocent."
Jay: [SLOW] hugas kamay [NORMAL] hugas kamay

Becky: Use this slang expression to refer to someone who pretends to be innocent but is not. This expression is tied with Christianity. Pontius Pilate washed his hands to declare himself innocent in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Becky : Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jay: [NORMAL] Nagkaroon lang nang konteng problema, hugas kamay ka kaagad. Wag kang ganun, magkakasama tayo rito. [SLOW] Nagkaroon lang nang konteng problema, hugas kamay ka kaagad. Wag kang ganun, magkakasama tayo rito.
Becky: "Just because there was a minor problem, you immediately play innocent. Don't be like that, we are in this together."

Becky: Okay, what's our next expression?
Jay: nose bleed
Becky: literally meaning "nosebleed." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to not understand something."
Jay: [SLOW] nose bleed [NORMAL] nose bleed

Becky: Use this slang expression when you don't understand something. This expression was made popular by a Filipina comedienne actress in a sitcom when she exclaimed "nosebleed" to something she couldn't understand. This is almost always used in light, funny conversations.
Becky : Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jay: [NORMAL] Nakaka nose bleed naman yan! Ang alam ko lang kumakain tayo kasi gutom, wala naman akong alam sa mga nutrients na yan. [SLOW] Nakaka nose bleed naman yan! Ang alam ko lang kumakain tayo kasi gutom, wala naman akong alam sa mga nutrients na yan.
Becky: "I cannot understand what you are talking about. All I know is that we eat because we are hungry. I don't know anything about nutrients or such. "
Jay: [NORMAL] Nakaka nose bleed naman yan! Ang alam ko lang kumakain tayo kasi gutom, wala naman akong alam sa mga nutrients na yan.
Becky: Okay, what's the last expression?
Jay: huli ka balbon
Becky: literally meaning "you were caught, hairy." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to catch someone (in the act)."
Jay: [SLOW] huli ka balbon [NORMAL] huli ka balbon
Becky: Listeners, please repeat.
Jay: huli ka balbon

Becky: Use this slang expression when you catch someone in the act of doing something embarrassing. Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jay: [NORMAL] Akala ko ba nag-aral ka kagabi sa bahay, bakit nung tumawag ako sayo, nag party ka raw sabi ng Nanay mo? Huli ka balbon! [SLOW] Akala ko ba nag-aral ka kagabi sa bahay, bakit nung tumawag ako sayo, nag party ka raw sabi ng Nanay mo? Huli ka balbon!
Becky: "I thought you studied at home last night, but why is it when I called you, your mom said you went to a party? I caught you!"
Jay: [NORMAL] Akala ko ba nag-aral ka kagabi sa bahay, bakit nung tumawag ako sayo, nag party ka raw sabi ng Nanay mo? Huli ka balbon!
